Installing TiviMate on Firestick: 2026 walkthrough

Ten minutes start to finish. Sideload TiviMate onto any Fire TV Stick (Lite, the 4K, the 4K Max, even the Cube), wire up your Vivimate Xtream login, pull the EPG, then flip four playback settings that head off buffering on opening night.

TiviMate is the player most Firestick users settle on after trying everything else. The interface mirrors a cable EPG, the playlist auto-refresh actually works, and 4K HEVC plays without the audio-drift you get on the stock Fire TV player. The catch is Amazon does not list TiviMate in their Appstore, so you sideload it. This guide takes you from an out-of-the-box Firestick to a working TiviMate setup in roughly ten minutes.

Before you start

Three things have to be in front of you:

A Fire TV device. Anything from the last five years works: Fire TV Stick Lite, Stick 4K, Stick 4K Max, or Cube. The Lite is fine at 1080p. For 4K HDR streams the 4K Max has the smoothest experience because it has more RAM and a faster Wi-Fi chip.

Your IPTV provider login. With Vivimate the welcome email gives you two things: an M3U URL and an Xtream Codes set (server URL, username, password). Use Xtream Codes if you can. It loads the channel list, the EPG and the categories in one shot. M3U-only gives you the channels but the EPG comes from a separate XMLTV URL that you have to add manually.

A stable internet connection. TiviMate streams over HLS or MPEG-TS. Both need at least 15 Mbps sustained for 1080p and 25 Mbps for 4K. Sustained means the lowest reading during a speed test, not the peak. Run the test on the Firestick itself, not your laptop.

Step 1. Turn on app installation from unknown sources

This is the step everyone forgets. Skip it and you hit the "Install blocked" error two steps later.

From the Fire TV home screen, open the Settings menu, then drop into the "My Fire TV" panel. From there pick the "Developer Options" row. If "Developer Options" is not showing, open About first, click the model-name row seven times in succession until "You are now a developer" pops up, back out, and the Developer Options row now appears.

Within the Developer Options panel, flip "Apps from Unknown Sources" to on (the wording is "Install unknown apps" on the newer Fire TV sticks). Accept the warning popup that follows.

Step 2. Install the Downloader app

Downloader is a free utility from the Amazon Appstore that fetches APK files over the network. On Fire TV search (magnifying glass in the top-left), type Downloader, install it.

Open it. The first run asks for file access. Allow it.

Step 3. Sideload TiviMate

In the Downloader URL bar type the official TiviMate download URL exactly: tivimate.com/download. Type it letter by letter. Copy-paste between devices is fragile on Fire TV. Hit Go.

The TiviMate site opens inside Downloader's mini-browser. Scroll to the Download APK button and click it. Downloader pulls down the 25 MB APK and offers Install when it finishes.

Seeing an "Install blocked" pop-up means Step 1 got skipped. Head back, switch the unknown-sources toggle on, and try the install again.

After the install finishes click Done, then Delete to clear the APK from your Firestick's storage. The Delete prompt only removes the installer file, not the installed app.

Step 4. Open TiviMate and add your Vivimate playlist

Press the home button and scroll to Your Apps and Channels, See All. TiviMate is at the bottom. Long-press OK to move it to the front so you can find it later.

Open TiviMate. The first screen asks how to load channels. Two options:

Xtream Codes: pick this if your provider gives you a server URL, username and password (Vivimate does, in the welcome email). The EPG, channel groups and series info all load automatically.

M3U Playlist: pick this if all you have is a URL. Channels work, EPG does not unless you add an XMLTV source separately.

Paste the three Vivimate fields, click Next. TiviMate validates the connection. Within 10 to 30 seconds the channel count populates ("40,000+ channels loaded"). If the validation fails, double-check the URL did not autocorrect to https. IPTV servers run on http with a custom port.

Step 5. Profile name and EPG download

TiviMate asks for a profile name. Anything obvious is fine: "Home" or "Vivimate". This is only for you.

It then offers to download the program guide. Say yes. TiviMate pulls down the next 7 days of programming. On a normal connection this takes 30 seconds to two minutes depending on the size of the EPG. When the spinner stops you land on the live TV view. Press OK and the channel list slides in from the left.

Step 6. The four settings that prevent 90% of buffering

TiviMate ships with conservative defaults. They work for everyone but they are optimal for no one. Open Settings (gear icon, or long-press back, or press UP + OK on the channel list).

Playback, Decoder. Change from Hardware to Hardware+. Hardware+ lets TiviMate fall back to software decoding for codecs the Fire TV cannot decode in hardware (some channels broadcast in HEVC 10-bit with no hardware path on older Sticks). You lose around 5% battery on the Cube but gain access to channels that would otherwise show "Codec not supported".

Playback, Buffer size. Change from Default to Maximum. The default is 1500ms. Maximum is 5000ms. Five seconds of video sits ahead of playback, so a one-second Wi-Fi hiccup is invisible. The trade-off is a slightly longer pre-roll when you first tune to a channel.

Playback, User agent. Set to VLC. Some IPTV CDNs throttle the default TiviMate user-agent. VLC is the most-allowlisted UA across IPTV infrastructure. This change alone fixes a lot of unexplained slow buffering.

General, EPG, Update interval. Set to 6 hours. The default is "every app launch", which adds a 30-second delay every time you open TiviMate. Six hours keeps the guide fresh without the launch penalty.

Long-press home, close TiviMate, reopen it for the changes to apply cleanly.

Step 7. Optional: make TiviMate the default launcher

If this Firestick is only used for IPTV, replace the Amazon home screen with TiviMate so the stick opens directly into your channel list. Search the Appstore for "Fire TV launcher manager", install it, set TiviMate as default. Reversible at any time. You are not flashing firmware, you are changing which app the home button opens.

Common first-day problems

All channels show "Cannot play this video". Your line is suspended or you mistyped the password. Test the same credentials in IPTV Smarters Pro on your phone. If it fails there too, contact your provider. If it works on the phone but not TiviMate, the issue is the user-agent (Step 6).

Only some channels buffer. Almost always the channel itself, not your setup. IPTV channels aggregate from many upstream sources. One source can be saturated while the rest are clean. Switch to the same channel's backup variant. Vivimate labels backups "(BK)" in the channel list. The backup is the same source, different server, not lower quality.

EPG is empty or wrong. Settings, EPG, EPG sources, remove all entries, re-add your provider source. If your provider only ships M3U you may need a separate XMLTV URL. Vivimate ships one with the Xtream account.

Audio is out of sync. Long-press OK during playback, Audio track, switch. Many channels broadcast multiple tracks (original plus dubbed). If switching tracks does not help, change Decoder from Hardware+ back to Hardware for that channel only. Some software decoders introduce a 200ms audio delay.

That is the entire setup

Total time once you have done it once: under five minutes per additional device. The EPG download is the longest part and that is a one-off.

If you do not have an IPTV subscription yet, the cleanest order is: install TiviMate first, learn the workflow on the empty player, then plug in credentials. Vivimate's trial does not need a card and the credentials arrive in your inbox in seconds. When you upgrade to a paid plan the same TiviMate setup carries over without any reconfiguration.
